Oracle Argus Safety is one of the most widely deployed enterprise pharmacovigilance databases in the industry, with a long deployment history across large pharmaceutical companies globally, and it’s a natural starting point for understanding safety database architecture precisely because its case form structure represents a pattern shared, conceptually, across essentially every major platform in the space.
That case form is organised into distinct tabs, each capturing a specific, logically grouped category of case information rather than presenting everything as one undifferentiated form. A General tab holds administrative case identity — case number, receipt date, report type, country of incidence. A Patient tab captures demographic and clinical context — age, sex, weight, relevant medical history. A Products tab captures what the patient was actually taking — suspect and concomitant drugs, dosing, indication, start and stop dates.
An Events tab holds exactly the coded MedDRA content from Module 4 and the seriousness classification from Module 6, alongside each event’s outcome. A Reporter tab captures who actually reported the case and in what capacity — a detail that meaningfully affects follow-up strategy, since a physician reporter and a patient reporter warrant different follow-up approaches. An Analysis tab holds the causality assessment from Module 6 and the narrative text from Module 5. And a Regulatory Reporting tab tracks the expedited reporting determination and the submission history — exactly the E2B(R3) transmission record Lesson 10.7 covers in depth.
This lesson’s 3D visualization presents that tab structure deliberately generically, rather than replicating any single vendor’s exact screen layout, precisely because the categories themselves — not the specific pixel layout — are what genuinely transfers across platforms. A PV professional moving from an Argus-based organisation to an ARISg-based or Vault Safety-based one will find the specific screens look different, but will find themselves looking for essentially the same categories of information in each: administrative identity, patient context, product exposure, coded events, reporter details, medical analysis, and regulatory transmission history. That conceptual structure, more than any vendor-specific interface detail, is the genuinely durable skill.
